Ms. Mandisa Henry

Mandisa S. Henry Mandisa S. Henry (Currie) was born on April 12, 1976, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Ronald and Gwendolyn Currie. She was the third of four children. Mandisa attended Willowbrook Elementary School, Rogers Middle School, and was a proud graduate of Star Spencer High School from the Class of 1994. Mandisa would boast about her roots and was proud to be from the Spencer/ Dunjee area and was definitely a Bobcat to heart. During her time at Star Spencer, was an active and vibrant member of the Bobcat family. Mandisa always had a heart for community, culture, and being an advocate in a wide array of areas. She was a mover and a shaker in every essence of her being. Mandisa was a dynamic and lively leader. At SSHS, she proudly served as Senior Class Secretary. Known for her academic acumen, attention to detail, and communication skills, she faithfully discharged her responsibilities with grace. She balanced class officer duties, extracurricular activities, social hobbies, and family life with poise, even at a young age - graduating at the top of her class. Because of her outgoing nature, bubbly personality, and friendly disposition, she was voted Miss Star Spencer 1994. She was energetic, where her presence was felt in the community footprint. Mandisa loved to dance and was gifted in movement. She could be seen dancing and performing at local events as SSHS cheerleader/Co- Captain and majorette. Whatever Mandisa was involved in, she radiated love, beauty, and excellence. As she evolved into early adulthood, Mandisa successfully matriculated through her college years at the University of Central Oklahoma. During that time, Mandisa pledged a lifetime of service and sisterhood to Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, in the Spring of 1999. She was proud to join with her beloved Line Sisters, that were affectionately called “Final Four.” She sashayed with class in a way that only she could and was the “Deuce” of her pledge-line. With her studies and service at the forefront, she ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology, with a minor in Audiology in 1999. Affectionately called Safiyah by her family, Mandisa was a vibrant young lady with a flare and love for design. To see her enter a room with such poise and grace, she captivated everyone she encountered. From the top of her head to the soles of her feet, she carried herself with humility, confidence, peace, and love. Mandisa was so proud of her three amazing children. She often-times said, “Being their Mom was the ultimate gift’. Sydne, Simone, and Charles IV were the three heartbeats that kept her on the move. Her children adored her as well as their friends. She was known as “One Cool Mom” to their buddies. As a result, she was a friend and confidant to many of their parents. If you were privileged to have her in your “Village,” you were blessed. For many years, she helped family and friends with design projects for their homes and offices. No wonder she had an eye for making everything around her shine. In an effort to solidify her place in the interior design industry, she pursued professional training from Rhodec International Design School, earning a certificate in Interior Design. This achievement solidified her expertise in design. As a result of her commitment to honing her gift, in 2010, she boldly established her design firm, “Mandisa Interiors”. She also enjoyed multiple career paths as she worked for Chesapeake Energy and then Diamondback Energy as a Division Order Analyst. Mandisa peacefully parted this life on December 25, 2023. Where she was welcomed with open arms by her beloved father, Ronald Currie. Her precious memories and life will be cherished and celebrated by her children: Sydney Henry, Symone Henry, and Charles Henry IV; Mother, Gwendolyn Currie, Brothers: Ebony Muhammad; Muhammad A. Muhammad (Marsharie); Sister: Kamilah (Wayne) Willis (Currie), nieces; Karimah Currie, Na’ Ima Curie, Kahdayla Currie, Makeah Cooks, Maleah Willis, Mya Dizer, and Makiah Dizer; nephews: Kahdafi Currie, Ishmael Muhammad, Avery Willis, Isiah Willis, Sean Willis, Madjai Evens and Mahlon Evens; great-nieces; cousins; family members; and friends.
