Mrs. Mary Slaughter

Masks are required while in the building viewing, and for all funeral and graveside services. The hour glass, with its sands of time, has slowly but surely spilled its contents and with the passing of the last grain of sand, went the life of our loved one Mary Slaughter. Mary was a very kind sister, mother, and a loving aunt. She passed into eternity after living a long happy life of 94 years. She stepped gracefully from this life on Wednesday, September 2nd 2020. Mary Slaughter was the fourth child of fourteen children born to the union of Adren and Eula Goudeau on October 29, 1925 in Grayson, Oklahoma. She was christened at an early age at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grayson, Oklahoma. Upon adulthood, Mary moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she made it her home for a short period of time. She later moved to Oklahoma City, where she met and married Tommy Slaughter. Mary’s first place of employment was at Ed Reynolds Flower Shop on N. W. 23rd street, OKC. She later sought employment at B. C. Clark Jewelry store and continued being a devoted employee for 50 years. Mary lived at Regency Tower Apartment Building in downtown Oklahoma City for 47 years. She was well known and loved by all who knew her. She would sit down in the lobby every evening with greetings and well wishes to everyone who passed her by. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a greeter on Sunday mornings and loved volunteering anywhere she was needed. She also volunteered many days helping in the aftermath of the tragic Murrah Building bombing on April 15th 1995. She was given the Lady of achievement award by her Church family for her outstanding volunteer efforts in making sandwiches and feeding the homeless in her community. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Adren and Eula Goudeau; her husband Tommy Slaughter; her four sisters Teresa Carear, Louis Johnson, Florence Reed, and Celestine Johnson; her two brothers Curtis Goudeau and Freeman Goudeau; her son David Williams; and (step daughter) Vickie Slaughter. Mary shall forever be remembered in the hearts of her loving family: one grandson, David Williams Jr. (Kendra), of Port Charlotte, Florida; Four great grandchildren, Kaja, Mikayla, David III, Dion, all of Port Charlotte Florida; Three sisters, Katherine Jones (Tulsa), Betty Henderson, and Shirly Edwards both of Oklahoma City, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. The Saint Ann’s Nursing Home, The Good Shepherd Hospice Center, The Regency Tower community and friends for all of their support, kindness, and safety measures in taking care of our loved one.
