Ms. Sharita Dorn Williams

Sharita Kay (Dorn) Williams was born on May 22, 1961 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to James A. Dorn Sr. and Mrs. Azzie L. Dorn. She was the third of four children. Sharita accepted Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma under her grandfather Henry S. Burton. Sharita will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the beautiful way she made others feel seen and valued. Whether through a gentle word, a helping hand, or by sharing her knowledge to uplift and support those around her, she left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and grace. Sharita was a proud member of the Class of 1979 at Chickasha High School. She continued her educational journey at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree, a testament to her determination and commitment to personal growth. Sharita devoted 32 years of dedicated service to the State of Oklahoma in Child Welfare, faithfully supporting and advocating for children and families in need until her retirement in 2021. Her work was not just a career, but a calling, reflecting her compassion, strength, and unwavering desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Sharita accepted Christ and established a strong foundation of faith at an early age. Throughout the years, she served faithfully in many capacities within the church—including as Choir Director and an active member of the Youth, Young Adult Ministries and the Lydia Circle. Sharita had a deep love for her church family, faithfully serving for over 30 years as a proud and devoted member of Wildewood Baptist Church. Sharita was united in marriage to John Williams, and to this loving union were born their two beautiful and cherished twins, Marshena Ashong and Erik Williams, who were truly her pride and joy. While she was a devoted mother to two, she became a mother figure to many, lovingly embracing the friends of her children who naturally gravitated toward her warmth and nurturing spirit. Affectionately known as “Nana” to her grandchildren, Sharita was a proud and devoted grandmother to five. Her love for her grandchildren was boundless and pure, often leaving her own children in awe as they watched her pour endless affection, wisdom, and care into their lives. Through them, she leaves a legacy of warmth, laughter, and unwavering support that will continue for generations. While we mourn the loss of Sharita’s physical presence, we also celebrate a life lived to the fullest—a life that touched so many with joy, beauty, and grace. Her memory will forever be a song in our hearts, reminding us to live with rejoicing, to love without hesitation, and to share our light with the world just as she did. She is survived by her father; James Dorn Sr. of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Brothers James Dorn Jr. (Lisa) of Oklahoma City and Craig L. Dorn Sr.(Shalena Dorn) of Haughton, Louisiana; Son; Erik L. Williams Sr.(Kemily) of Bethany, Oklahoma and Daughter; Marshena Ashong (Idris) of Chickasha, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Zacharias, Sharita, Horatio Jr., Nehemiah, and Erik Jr., along with a host of aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones who will miss her tremendously.
