Lawrence Douglas Pendarvis was born on May 7, 1942 to Mildred and Grail Pendarvis. He was one of eight children and raised in Anadarko Oklahoma where he attended Anadarko High School. Pastor Doug loved sports and played football as a running back in addition to running track throughout his high school years. When he was a senior in high school his parents moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Douglas High School until he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve in the infantry for six years. When he was discharged from the Army he returned to Oklahoma, met and married Betty Ruth Terry and had five children. Doug and Betty were married for 23 years. Also, while married to Betty, the Lord called him to the Ministry to be a Pastor and a teacher. He began his spiritual journey at St. James Church where he sang in the Men’s choir and also participated in the street ministry where he traveled around the country preaching on the streets and bringing people to the Lord to be saved. Pastor Doug was a man of steadfast faith and dedication to the Lord. This compelled him to read and know the word of God, which in turn, allowed him to inspire and teach others to become Preachers as well. In 1979 he starting working at General Motors and met his beloved wife Bobbie whom he married in 1991. He and his wife Bobbie founded Jubilee Bible Ministries in Oklahoma City in 1993 where Pastor Doug was the Pastor for 28 years. His faith in Jesus Christ and his love for knowing the scripture was the most important part of his life. Pastor Doug loved the holidays, birthdays and family gatherings and especially the food and presents that went along with them. He was also an avid sports fan and spent many an hour watching his favorite teams, the OU Sooners, Cleveland Browns and LA Lakers with his son, Joel. In essence, he knew how to celebrate life. Pastor Doug was a great teacher and a dependable friend and his advice and guidance will have a lasting effect on so many who’s lives he has touched throughout the years. His end here on earth is just the beginning of an eternity in the presence of our God. He was beloved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
