Ms. Betty Turner

Betty Turner, born on November 1, 1941, in El Reno, Oklahoma, was called home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the cherished daughter of Lessie Mae Loggins and Johnny Rogers, who, along with her grandmother Luetta Utterback and her aunt Rosie Rogers, played integral roles in her upbringing. Her father’s unwavering support and guidance, combined with the nurturing environment provided by her family, shaped Betty into the loving and compassionate person she became. Betty attended Douglas High School in Lawton, OK, where she met the love of her life, Claude Turner. Their marriage marked the beginning of a beautiful journey that lasted over 25 wonderful years, filled with love, laughter, and faith. A devoted servant of God, Betty dedicated her life to the Lord, and her vibrant spirit was reflected in her love for music. She sang in the church choir and was an integral part of the inter-denominational community choir, using her voice to uplift and minister throughout the country. Her passion for music resonated with her commitment to the Lawton community, where she became a pillar of strength during times of tragedy and need. Betty was also committed to early childhood education and care, dedicating many years and countless hours as a childcare professional in both the private and public sectors. Her nurturing heart and dedication to the growth of children left a lasting impact on countless lives. In addition to her many talents, Betty was known for her delightful baking. She was especially famous for her banana pudding and sweet potato pies, which brought comfort and joy to family gatherings and community events. An avid soap opera watcher, Betty found joy in the stories and characters that captivated her afternoons, often sharing her favorite moments with family and friends. As a valued member of Union Baptist Church mission group, Betty made a profound impact on her community through her compassion, kindness, and unwavering faith. She regularly visited the sick and shut-in, providing comfort and support to church members in need, ensuring they felt valued and inspired in their spiritual journeys. Upon her retirement, Betty cherished her time spent with her grandkids and great grandkids, imparting wisdom and life skills with love and joy. Her legacy of love, music, and spiritual strength will continue to inspire all who knew her. Betty leaves to cherish her memory her two daughters: Sandra Rogers and her devoted friend Fred Edwards of Oklahoma City, OK; and Sonya Crayton and her husband Bernard Hines of Lawton, OK. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Jimmy Guinn of Wichita, KS; her grandchildren, Thaddeus Turner Sr. and wife Tonya Turner of Wichita Falls, TX, Tremayne Rogers of Oklahoma City, OK, Tavarus Turner of Lawton, OK, Pierre Crayton of Lawton, OK, Kimberly Crayton and fiancé James Middleton of Lawton, OK, Kenyatta Crayton-Holmes and husband Knicco Holmes of Oklahoma City, OK; and a multitude of great-grandchildren, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lessie Mae Loggins; her father, Johnny Rogers; her sister, Dorthy Mae Guinn; her ex-husband, Claude Turner; her grandparents, Mr. Johnnie Rogers Sr. and Luetta Utterback; her uncles, Lewis and Itasco Rogers; and her aunt, Rosie Rogers. Betty Turner will be deeply missed but forever remembered. In the words of Psalm 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.
